Dioxin 2007 Conference, JapanCenter for Risk Science and Communication Founding Director, Dr. David Garabrant recently took a team of fourteen scientists to Tokyo, Japan for the 27th International Symposium on Halogenated Persistent Organic Pollutants (Dioxin 2007). Research findings totaling eight talks and nineteen posters from the University of Michigan Dioxin Exposure Study were presented. Qixuan Chen, a Biostatistics Ph.D. student co-advised by Dr. Rod Little and Dr. Michael Elliott, participated in the conference and won this year’s Otto Hutzinger Student Award. This prize is awarded for the best oral and poster presentations by students. The awarded presentation is entitled, “Serum 2, 3, 7, 8-TCDD Concentration in a Michigan, USA Population with no Unusual Sources of Exposure”. This work also won a travel award from the Society of Risk Analysis to attend the 2007 Annual Meeting.
