Dvonch Lab - Exposure Assessment, Source Identification, and Health Effects of Air Pollutants

Leader

J. Tim Dvonch, Ph.D.

Major Fields

Keywords

Exposure Assessment, Source Identification, and Health Effects of Air Pollutants

Description

Dr. Dvonch's work focuses on the exposure assessment, source identification, and health effects of air pollutants. He obtained a B.S. in Chemistry in 1992. In 1994, he earned an M.S. in Environmental Health Sciences, and subsequently a Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences in 1998. Dr. Dvonch collaborates on several large multi-disciplinary projects focused on environmental exposures and their related effects on health.

Research Areas

Air pollutant exposure assessment and source identification

Investigation of the mass, number, and chemical composition of ambient particles for exposure assessment at the community, micro-environmental, and personal level. Subsequent application of these data and methods for source identification and apportionment of the pollutants through the use of receptor models.... More >>

Air pollutant exposure assessment and source identification

Health effects of exposure to air pollutants

Investigations of the health effects of well-characterized exposures, both through controlled pollutant exposure studies (animals and humans) as well as population-based epidemiological investigations, using biological risk markers and outcomes including but not limited to respiratory and cardiovascular disease.... More >>

Health effects of exposure to air pollutants

Atmospheric sources, transport, and fate of mercury in the environment

Studies investigating the emission sources of mercury to the atmosphere, as well as the subsequent atmospheric transport and deposition to sensitive ecosystems, with particular attention to measurement methods development specific to mercury.... More >>
