About this Project

In this pilot study, 100 cases of diarrhea and 100 controls, without diarrhea, will be collected in an outpatient clinic and analyzed for the following pathogens: pathogenic E. coli, Shigella, Salmonella, Campylobacter, Rotavirus, Cryptosporidium, Giardia, and Entamoeba histolytica. These data will be used to both look at which of these pathogens are causing diarrhea and what proportion of the diarrhea is being caused by this set of pathogens.
