Eisenberg Group - Environmental Determinants of Infectious DiseasesEtiology of Diarrheal Disease in an Outpatient Health Clinic in QuitoPrincipal InvestigatorCo-Principal InvestigatorCo-InvestigatorsWilliam Cevallos Trujillo, Gabriel Trueba Funding SourcesUM Center for Global Health StatusCurrent KeywordsAbout this ProjectIn this pilot study, 100 cases of diarrhea and 100 controls, without diarrhea, will be collected in an outpatient clinic and analyzed for the following pathogens: pathogenic E. coli, Shigella, Salmonella, Campylobacter, Rotavirus, Cryptosporidium, Giardia, and Entamoeba histolytica. These data will be used to both look at which of these pathogens are causing diarrhea and what proportion of the diarrhea is being caused by this set of pathogens.
