Goals

To help undergraduate students identify health care administration as a sound career choice by familiarizing them with the field through a structured summer work experience in a health care setting.

• To provide the student with an 8-week internship that will expose the student to the responsibilities and activities of a health administrator and also will enable the student to complete a meaningful project.
• To provide the student with opportunities to learn more about health care organizations, health administration, the health care system and public health through formal and informal meetings and visits with health administrators, UM SPH alumni, UM faculty and other program preceptors This goal will be met through a series of meetings during the internship period.
• To evaluate the structure and nature of the Summer Enrichment Program and to obtain information on the students' evaluations of their preceptors and placements as well as on the preceptors' evaluations of the students. This will be accomplished through the use of short, evaluative instruments, which will be developed by UM faculty and will be completed by students and preceptors.
