Lectures

Although the SEP relies primarily on experiential learning, rather than classroom activities, to enable participants to learn about the US Health Care System and Health Disparities, a few lecture/discussion sessions are held during the summer with faculty from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. For example, during the first two days of orientation, lecture/discussion sessions provide an overview of the US Health Care System and a thorough review of the nature and causes of health disparities in the US. Additional lectures are provided during the summer in combination with the Friday field trips.
