Non-Degree Applicants

Students are admitted with "non-degree status" when enrolling in select certificate programs or when granted the opportunity to take coursework on a more flexible basis than found in specific degree programs. Admissibility to non-degree status is determined by:

  • Successful completion of a bachelor's degree program, and
  • Evidence of ability to succeed in university courses.

Applicants to a School of Public Health degree program are not eligible for admission to unclassified status for the same term as degree application.

Applicants admitted to unclassified (non-degree) status in the School of Public Health are not associated with a department and are not assigned a faculty advisor. Admission is for a single term and students admitted to this category must obtain permission of the instructor for each course they wish to take. A total of no more than ten (10) credit hours may be elected under the unclassified (non-degree) status. Students not electing ten credit hours their first term of enrollment may continue in their unclassified status with the permission of the School Registrar. Unclassified (non-degree) students who wish to apply for degree status for a subsequent term, must complete the School of Public Health Application for Admission, submit letters of recommendation, and Graduate Exam Scores or its equivalent taken within the last five years. Official transcripts submitted with the unclassified (non-degree) application can be used for the degree application. Admission to the School of Public Health as an unclassified (non-degree) student does not ensure admission to a degree program.

Applications cannot be accepted after the first day of classes for the desired term of admission.
