 The DHWP has a tri-fold mission of service, education and research. Through this mission, DHWP is dedicated to promoting healthy people, families, communities, neighborhoods and environments. DHWP uses best practice and client-centered approaches in providing public health services. DHWP staff has expertise in designing and implementing public health programs and services with a particular emphasis on reducing health disparities.
DHWP’s services are provided in three functional areas: Community Health Services, Environmental Health Services and Special Population Health Service. Services include: primary health care; maternal and child health; health education, promotion and disease prevention; environmental health; public health nursing; substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery services; HIV/AIDS; and Emergency Preparedness.
