Rebuilding Communities, Inc/Warren-Conner Development Coalition (WCDC)

Sonya Grant-Pierson, Executive Director

Rebuilding Communities, Inc. (RCI) encourages residents to be informed about the issues and events that affect their lives recognizing that leadership training, technical assistance and funded projects are the building blocks of positive neighborhood change. RCI uses the “Neighborhood Toolbox,” a nationally recognized replicable model for other communities. The “Neighborhood Toolbox” is a community-based system of tangible and intangible tools that enhance the capacity of neighborhood residents, leaders and organizations to improve their communities.

Rebuilding Communities, Inc. is an affiliated project of the Warren-Conner Development Coalition (WCDC). WCDC has been in operation since 1984 serving the eastside of Detroit, and is committed to residents, businesses, and institutions working together to rebuild the community by promoting community control and ownership, stimulating many forms of reinvestment, and encouraging responsible community leadership. WCDC believes that the community must have a central role in identifying and addressing health issues in its eastside community.
