support v-bid

“Support for engaging in the design, evaluation and promotion of health insurance products to improve health outcomes and manage costs.”

"V-BID is the first academic venue in which faculty with both clinical and economic expertise conduct empirical research to determine the health and economic impact of innovative benefit designs." As co-director Mark Fendrick is fond of sharing, “ V-BID concepts represent more health for the dollar spent at any price point.”

With support from government and foundation grants, the University of Michigan, and funding from other interested private entities, the Center for Value-Based Insurance Design is in the process of:

1. Developing interventions for specific conditions –translating research into actionable steps for health benefit improvement.

2. Creating a library of literature for companies, academic institutions and others to research V-BID concepts.

3. Creating a user-friendly compilation of real V-BID experiences to help further the evolution of benefit design and its ability to positively affect pricing.

4. Developing an accreditation process to help organizations distinguish between true benefit design transformation and hit or miss strategies.
