NIKON N-2020 Autofocus with a 28-85 mm zoom lens

Why   I   Chose   This   Camera

Well, I chose this camera more for functional reasons rather than the camera itself.    A short explanation.

After graduating from high school and before starting college, I suffered trauma to my right eye which left me with an iridodialysis.   That's just a fancy medical term which basically translates into my right eye basically having 2 pupils.  The effect of this is that light comes into my right eye from two places at different angles, which makes it impossible for that eye to properly focus.   This in turn screws up my vision in that eye.

Now, I am right-handed.   Therefore the natural thing to do when using a camera is to hold the camera body with my right hand, adjust the lens with the left, while holding the camera to my right eye.   However, since I cannot clearly focus through my right eye, the "usual" system is cumbersome and basically doesn't working too well.  Using the normal grip and holding the camera to the left eye was just too uncomfortable and awkward.   I tried other alternatives to use the camera with my left eye, but it was too frustrating.   This made using a camera (other than the point-and-shoot type) very difficult.   Then NIKON introduced the N-2020 which was one of the first generation of auto-focus cameras.   With auto-focus, I could hold the camera naturally to my right eye and not worry about focusing....well, most of the time.   Since this is a first generation auto-focus, it's not perfect, but I'm not complaining.

About   The   Photographs

The majority of these pictures were taken within the last 5 years.   I tend to take pictures of scenery, since I'm still working on my composition skills.   I also still have a problem determining exactly what my camera can and can't see.   A very difficult skill that I have yet to master.   However, I have included some pictures I've taken of people.   I'm hoping to add more "candid people shots" to the gallery in the near future.

Hope you enjoy the photographs!
